Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis has always worn his faith on his sleeve. When success has come his way, Ray has always been quick to give all credit to God.
So when the story broke yesterday that Ray was linked to the use of a banned substance to return from his triceps injury, everyone in the sports world was keen to hear what Ray had to say regarding it. He spoke on the issue today.
“That’s the trick of the devil,” Lewis said when asked about allegations that he used a banned performance-enhancing substance during his recovery from a torn triceps. “The trick of the devil is to kill, steal and destroy. That’s what he comes to do. He comes to distract you from everything you’re trying to do.”
“My mom taught me to put my complete faith in God,” Lewis said. “I truly believe impact and success are two different things. Anybody can have success. Impact is totally different. You talk about the walk of Jesus, his whole walk was impact. So that’s what my life is based on.”
Strong words from Lewis.
Whether or not you believe the accusations is up to you. I’m sure from Ray’s point of view, he just wants to focus on the actual game and go out on top with a Super Bowl win.
