The majority of athletes view media day as a requirement. Jimmy Butler, a forward with the Miami Heat, views media day as a way of life. Butler appeared at the Heat’s yearly media day on October 2nd, wearing outfits more reminiscent of Panic! at the Disco than Stability! on the Basketball Court. Jimmy said,
“I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me,”
“This is how I’m feeling as of late.”
News of Emo Jimmy’s resurrection—for a Fall Out Boy music video—broke on Wednesday, just as Heat fans were beginning to believe the character had been placed to rest.
In fact, Butler starred in the music video for “So Much (For) Stardust,” which was published on Wednesday morning.
The song is the lead single from the legendary emo act’s top-10 selling album from March 2023.
Butler sports a crazy purple outfit and the hairstyle in the video, which also has him playing the guitar and dancing. For the Heat, who are 33-25, seventh in the Eastern Conference, and winners of eight of their past ten games, Butler’s emo turn seems to be paying off.
