The Rice University football program added a late recruit to it’s spring roster on Thursday.
Seven-year-old Fre’derick “Ziggy” Stovall-Redd is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cancer in-which bone marrow makes too many immature white blood cells), however that isn’t stopping him from living out his dreams.
The Owls welcomed Ziggy to the team with a full press conference and signing ceremony. Rice head coach David Bailiff, was extremely excited to have the star recruit signed, sealed and delivered:
“This young man’s been wrestling with this decision, and he has finally made the choice. He’s chose Rice University,” Bailiff said. “We’re so excited and we want to welcome Ziggy to Rice University and the Rice football family. Thank you, Ziggy.”
The entire scene is touching and can be found below. Big ups to the Rice University football program. We can never get enough of stories like this.
