The idea that a college coach, recruiter or recruiting website can accurately assess the potential of a 12-year-old prospect is delusional to me.
With that being said — the need to be first — to the land the top recruiting classes is going to start having a bad effect on high school football.
According to Darren Rovell via USA Today, Rivals will now start to monitor and rank 6th grade prospects. They’ve already started to track two sixth-graders who will likely be a part of the Class of 2021. 5-foot-2 quarterback Daron Bryden and and running back Tyson Thornton.

Again, I find the idea of being able to track the type of passer Bryden will become — while standing on 5-foot-2 is absurd.
