Robert Guerrero recently said god sent him to humble boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., and now Guerrero may need to call on the lord one more time.
The New York Post is reporting that Guerrero was arrested this morning at JFK Airport after trying to board a flight headed back to Las Vegas with a handgun.
A top boxer celebrating his 30th birthday was arrested on gun charges after trying to board a Las Vegas-bound flight with a handgun at Kennedy Airport, Port Authority police said.
Robert Joseph Guerrero, the interim WBC welterweight champ, was arrested with an unloaded .40-cal Smith & Wesson semi-automatic on his way to a the 8:10 a.m. Delta flight 1429, according to reports. The boxer had no ammo with him.
Guerrero arrived in New York on Monday and said the “media knows he is a hunter and requested he bring the weapon for a photo op.”
Guerrero, who lives in Gilroy, Calif., turned 30 yesterday.
No word on how that will affect his May 4 bout with Floyd in Las Vegas. Guerrero was in town for media obligations, and there is no word yet on whether or not the handgun was apart of the tour or some kind of mix up with paperwork may have taken place.
