I guess we know why Greg McElroy had no problem hanging em up.
McElroy passed up the yearly grind of trying to make a ballclub to become a top draft pick of ESPN”s new SEC Network. The former Crimson Tide star has been hired as an analyst for the network.
He has a multi-year agreement with ESPN.
“I am thrilled to be joining the ESPN family. College football has always been one of my greatest passions, and I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity to take part in the launch of the SEC Network,” said McElroy. “The SEC provided me with five of the best years of my life, and the fact I will be able to cover its 14 outstanding universities was extremely appealing and exciting!”
McElroy now joins Jesse Palmer and Tim Tebow along with commentators Paul Finebaum,Brent Musburger and Joe Tessitore on a growing roster of experts contributing to the network’s coverage.
“Greg was an integral member in what has been a dynasty of success at Alabama under Coach Nick Saban over the last decade. The personal understanding he has of the teams we will cover every week allows a perspective unavailable on any other network,” said Stephanie Druley, ESPN vice president, production, college sports. “His intelligence, experience and first hand playing knowledge of playing in the conference on the biggest national stage will be an incredible asset to the fans.”
