Brent Ahlers allegedly told police that he was assaulted by a black man in a hoodie with an afro, and that resulted in 1,800 students being placed on lockdown, and a full force of police officers, helicopters, and K-9 units descending on the campus of St. Catherine University in St. Paul Minnesota.
After the police failed to locate the imaginary suspect, Ahlers admitted that he accidentally shot himself in the shoulder with a gun that he was not supposed to have.
The police released this statement:
“I think early on, some of the facts of this case weren’t adding up for us,” said St. Paul Police Sgt. Mike Ernster at a press conference. “We didn’t have the confidence in the description to act on it. It had residents of the Mac-Groveland and Highland Park communities fearful that a suspect was on the loose and they could be victimized at any moment.”
Brent Ahlers went to the big scary black man story to cover up his ridiculous negligent behavior. Thankfully, an innocent black man wasn’t killed due this malicious lie. Brent Ahlers made up the story because he was worried about losing his job as a security guard, since the college does not allow guards to carry guns. He was charged with misdemeanor falsely reporting a crime and released from the Ramsey County jail.
