Clemson could be without one of their best player Monday as they face Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Defensive end Shaq Lawson suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during the Capital One Orange Bowl. Lawson left the game early and didn’t return but has high hopes of playing Monday.
“There’s a very good chance I’ll play. I’m just trying to get my knee stronger before Monday.”
According to ESPN, Lawson was a Lombardi Award finalist who led the nation with 23.5 tackles for loss. Lawson is receiving treatment twice a day and was listed as a limited participate in Thursday practice.
When asked his chances of playing Monday, Lawson said “60 percent” and acknowledged that there is still some time for him to improve before game time.
