Spectators at the Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California got more than they bargained for. During the final scheduled horserace at the track and before the scheduled concert of Ice Cube, a man pulled out his gun and fired in the area where the concert was to take place.
According to the Del Mar Racetrack’s website https://www.dmtc.com/calendar/detail/icecube, the concert area would be opened at 5pm and the concert was to follow the horseraces. The concert was sold out and gates were reportedly closed to fans trying to enter around 6:45 p.m. It was around this time that some of the people in attendance became restless waiting to enter the concert area, when someone pulled out a gun and fired, to which Sheriff’s deputies at the scene reacted to the shooting and returned fire. The suspect allegedly fired three shots before authorities subdued him. The suspect was taken to the hospital with unidentified injuries. There are no reported injuries outside of the shooter.
