One of R Kelly’s accusers Faith Rodgers was 19 at the time she met R Kelly, considering Kelly was 50 at the time, it is still disturbing, but not illegal.
She tried to say he raped her, but on the Surviving R Kelly doc, she said while she didn’t really want to do it, it was consensual. That is also what she told the police and that is why they aren’t charging him.
Faith Rodgers sued the singer last May, claiming he initiated “unwanted sexual contact” and had “abusive sex” with her in a Long Island hotel room after flying her to his concert in NY. She also reportedly filed a criminal report with Suffolk County PD in June.
But, according to an August 2018 supplemental police report — obtained by TMZ — Rodgers told cops that although they engaged in oral sex and sexual intercourse … it was “without any verbal or physical resistance.”
Cops say based on this — along with the absence of any video or photo evidence of the incident from the hotel, law enforcement found the allegations to be “unprosecutable due to a lack of criminality.”
She’s still suing him, but there won’t be a criminal charge.
As far as his music, as we reported before he wanted to be released from SONY, so he could drop his new album while his supporters are strongly behind him.
Billboard confirms our report.
R. Kelly has a new album recorded and is aiming to release it imminently, sources tell Billboard.
It isn’t clear how R Kelly will release the album, but he has plenty of options, from going through an indie distributor or signing a deal with a new label to potentially uploading the project directly onto Spotify, though a rep said Spotify’s direct-upload feature is still in beta and available to only a small number of artists, which does not include Kelly. One source tells Billboard that Kelly’s team had been looking for a new distributor for months, before the Lifetime documentary came out. It’s possible the release won’t hit the market as soon as hoped, other sources say.
Depending on the week and because you don’t need a lot of physical copies to go #1 on Billboard, Kelly could have his first #1 album in years if he releases it any time soon.
