Offensive tackle Branden Albert became a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars the first day of the league year.
The Jaguars haven’t heard a peep from him since. The Jags traded the Miami Dolphins a 2018 seventh-round draft pick for Albert in March but coach Doug Marrone hasn’t had any communication with him since. Albert has yet to show up for the team’s voluntary workouts.
“I’ve had communication with Branden prior to,” Marrone said of Albert visiting the team before the trade. “I have not had any communication with him [this week], which is a surprise. I don’t know what his thoughts are going forward. I can’t comment on that. Obviously, it’s voluntary, but I was surprised that I didn’t receive a call back from him.”
Albert, a 10-year veteran, is set to earn a $8.875 million base salary this season.
