Former WNBA Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings has been involved in a lot of social justice work.
Catchings is considered the greatest Indiana Fever player of all-time who averaged 16.1 points shooting 41.5 percent from the field in her career total.
On Martin Luther King Day, Catchings payed her respects to Dr. King in a Twitter post acknowledging the sacrifices he and others made in the walk of social justice.
As a General Manager, she embodies peace and justice geared towards helping the youth become the future.
“Over the years, Catchings’ community work has been shown in a variety of ways – including through her Catch the Stars Foundation, which supports disadvantaged youth in achieving their dreams, while also emphasizing youth fitness, literacy, and development. She has camps and clinics that teach basketball, as well as positive life values to children. That’s on top of the various programs offered at her business Tea’s Me Cafe Indy,” via WNBA.com.
There’s no doubt it’s more to life than basketball and we appreciate Catchings for carrying the torch in a time where Black people need hope.
