According to reports, the ‘Reg’ actor from ‘The Chi’ was robbed at gunpoint while in Chicago. Vlad reports that;
Barton Fitzpatrick, the actor primarily known for his portrayal of the villainous drug dealer named “Reg” on Showtime’s hit series The Chi, was recently robbed at gunpoint.
The Chicago native is a local celebrity who has appeared in numerous television dramas that take place in his hometown, from The Chi to Power Book IV: Force and Empire. His longest tenure as an actor was his recurring role on The Chi from 2018 to 2019.
Unfortunately for the 25-year-old, life imitated art on Sunday morning, as an unidentified suspect hopped into the backseat of a vehicle while Fitzpatrick was riding in the passenger seat before taking some of his valuables, such as his chain. No injuries were reported from this incident, and the perpetrator is still at large.
Be careful out there in Chicago even though crime is slightly down this year.
While Chicago is on pace for more than 600 homicides in 2022, the number of shootings and killings through the first half of the year are both down more than 10% compared to each of the last two years, according to police.
Data published Friday by the Chicago Police Department shows there have been 310 homicides and 1,255 shootings in the city through the end of June. Both those figures are below the pace set through the first six months of 2021 and 2020.
“The reduction in violence is due to the dedicated work of the men and women of the Chicago Police Department,” Police Superintendent David Brown said in a statement. “Our brave officers, at great risk to themselves, continue working on behalf of the people of Chicago to make every neighborhood safer.”
According to that data, homicides this year are down 10% compared to the same time last year. Shootings are also down 17% this year, and the number of shooting victims in 2022 is down by more than 300 (1,525 this year, 1,860 last year).
In June alone, there were 67 homicides. That’s down 21% compared to June 2021, according to police.
Police this year have recovered 6,205 firearms, a 5% increase over last year’s pace. Those weapons include more than 500 assault weapons and nearly 400 unserialized ghost guns.
