Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is one of the biggest movie stars in the world. However, Johnson made international headlines Friday morning after The Daily Star published an allegedly “exclusive” interview with the actor, via Complex.
“I don’t have to agree with what somebody thinks, who they vote for, what they voted for, what they think, but I will back their right to say or believe it. That’s democracy,” he reportedly told Daily Star. “So many good people fought for freedom and equality—but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.”
“If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended—and that is not what so many great men and women fought for,” Johnson reportedly continued. “People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want. That can only be a good thing—but ‘generation snowflake’ or, whatever you want to call them, [is] actually putting us backwards.”
Johnson never aims his comments at anything specific. It just appears that, generally speaking, he isn’t too fond of an increasingly socially conscious generation being offended by opinions that stray from their own. While nothing has been confirmed, some have suggested his questionable take could be in response to the recent controversy surrounding close friend and former co-star Kevin Hart.
Later Friday evening, Johnson posted a video to Instagram to clear the air about the interview and to give his thoughts to the people.
