There is a report coming out via the Wrestling Observer that TNA tried to go through an intermediary to sign CM Punk to a very lucrative contract. We heard when TNA tried to go after Alberto Del Rio in a similar manner when he was let go by the WWE but it would have been a major power move if they could land CM Punk. The story goes that TNA was willing to put CM Punk on par with what Hulk Hogan was making with them as the face of the company. The entire promotion would revolve around CM Punk which hopefully would have helped TNA secure a TV deal as they are currently playing out their contract with Spike who decided not to renew with them. If TNA could have snagged a star like CM Punk, who knows how that could have changed things. Yes, they would get a bump and some publicity but is CM Punk enough to save TNA? I feel like they are too far gone for any one person to bring them back. If Punk went to TNA the WWE might have felt slighted and we know they can hold a grudge. Remember AJ Lee is still working under WWE so Punk would have to know that signing with TNA would mean punishment for AJ. No way Punk even seriously considered going to TNA. Meanwhile, TNA is denying that they reached out to Punk or offered him any contract.
