Most people take the lay low approach when they are new to an area but not the New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall name is all over the headline because of his off the field comments. Marshall chimed in after the Brady saga started to die down saying that he feels race has an influence on how the NFL discipline players. Todd Bowles, Jets new head coach, doesn’t have an issue with Marshall speaking his mind but informed him that he should be very cautious and selective with his words when speaking on such sensitive subjects.
Coach Bowles and Marshall had an “in-depth” man to man talk about the comments. Bowles just wants Marshall to be careful.
“I read what he said, I heard what he said. Me and Brandon had a talk about it. We’re both fine. He’s fine. The team is fine.”
“You can say things, but they come out a different way than what you mean. He has to be smarter that way.”
I don’t think Marshall’s comments were to out of line. He is allowed to say whatever he wants to say but he just has to be prepared to take whatever heat comes with it. I’m sure coach Bowles wants to clear the air before he makes his coaching debut with the Jets Sunday as they host the Cleveland Browns.
