Chip Kelly had a ton of detractors after he decided to bolt Oregon for the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching job.
Many questioned whether Kelly’s up-tempo college scheme would work in the sophisticated NFL. The results have been good for Kelly after 19 games.
Kelly now has a growing fan club within the NFL community. On Thursday morning, ESPN NFL analyst and Super Bowl winning quarterback Trent Dilfer joined Mike and Mike to offer Kelly the ultimate praise.
“I’m completely, 100 percent all in on Chip Kelly,” Dilfer told ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike In The Morning. “In my time in football and I’ve been around some really good coaches.
Tony Dungy, Brian Billick for a stretch when he had his fastball, Mike Holmgren, obviously, Norv Turner, who is one of the best offensive minds in many years. Of all those people, I think this is the finest football coach I’ve ever studied.”
Kelly has a long way to go before he joins the greats like Belichick and Lombardi, but he has this coaching thing down to a science.
