Damn, try explaining that one to the wife.
According to a story courtesy 101 Great Goals via The Ugandan Observer, an over-confident (or over-stupid) fan of English soccer team Arsenal FC, lost his house to a Manchester United supporter after the two made a bet before the rivals clashed on the weekend.
Arsenal came into the game at the top of the English Premier League table with the reigning champions United trailing them by eight points a few months into the season.
Before the game, Henry Dhabasani staked his two-roomed house in a bet with Rashid Yiga, that Arsenal would win the game. On his part, Yiga staked his new Toyota Premio car and his wife that Manchester United would win.
The two put their stake in writing, with local leaders and fans witnessing the deed. Dhabasani, married to three wives with five children, fainted at the end of the match on realizing Arsenal had lost the game 1–0. On Monday, several Manchester United fans stormed Dhabasani’s home and threw him and his family out.
I hope this will serve as a lesson for you so called die-hard sports fans, don’t allow the passion you’re harboring for your team make you do something you’ll regret later. It’s just a game.
