The University of Miami’s mens basketball team will be without big man Reggie Johnson for the NCAA tournament Sweet 16. It was announced today that Johnson suffered a lower extremity injury in Sunday’s win over Illinois and his return was listed as uncertain. Miami coach Jim Larranaga did not discuss the injury before the team left for Washington, DC today.
“We’re all just going to have to step up,” said sixth-year senior forward Julian Gamble. “Hopefully we get him back for the Final Four.”
Johnson, Miami’s biggest player, in the last 12 games averaged 2.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and shot 28.9 percent from the field.
