The 2014 FIFA World Cup is rapidly approaching, and to push anticipation for the event even further, FIFA has released their latest rankings.
At the top are no surprises, as Spain and Germany sit in 1-2 positions. The U.S. Men’s National Team is looking to make an impact in Brazil this summer, and progress is being made slowly but surely as the teams ramp up for the tournament.
The USA men’s national team has moved up one spot to No. 13 in the rankings, where they sit right behind Belguim and ahead of Chile.
The US Team moves up in the most recent rankings after a 2-2 draw with Mexico a few days ago. This is the teams highest ranking since sitting in the 8th spot all the way back in 2005.
While soccer is the last major sport to catch on in the States, a successful World Cup run for the national team could change all of that. After winning their group during the 2010 World Cup for the first time since 1930 and reaching the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup, expectations are higher than ever.
