Earlier we wrote about Roy Jones jr’s quest to improve relations between Russia and the USA during yesterday’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and now it seems as thought Roy will be granted citizenship in Russia.
“I want to ask you about maybe having a passport to go back and forth so that I can do business here,” the American athlete proposed to Putin. “Because all the people here seem to love Roy Jones Jr. And I love when people love me.”
The fact that Roy still talks in 3rd person amazes me, nonetheless he impressed the Russian President during their meeting.
“Your name is very well known among sports and boxing fans in Russia,” Putin cooed. “If you plan to spend a significant part of your life working in Russia, we would certainly be happy to fulfil your request to receive a Russian passport, Russian citizenship.”
Jones has a fight in Crimia, formerly part of Russia, this weekend and is trying to build a fan base in the area. I guess having a fan base somewhere is better than roaming the USA as a has been. We wish Roy Jones Jr. the best and we hope that he continues to rap his own song post-fight.
