A dead man was discovered who got identified as Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis, according to WSVN News in Miami.
The 35-year-old former NFL great is thought to be the one whose body it is. There is no suspicion of foul play.
Chester Frazier, an assistant coach at the University of Illinois, Davis’ alma university, shared the following on social media on Monday:
“#illinination we lost a great today!!! RIP TO @vontaedavis man nothing but good memories of that dude in school!!! Praying for the Davis family!!”
Vontae Davis career in NFL
In the National Football League, Davis played for eight years and one game. In 2018, he retired during halftime of his one game as a defensive back for the Buffalo Bills.
The former Fighting Illini finished his career with 395 tackles, three forced fumbles, two sacks, one fumble recovery, and 22 interceptions, including nine while with the Dolphins.
In addition to making two trips to the Pro Bowl, Davis was selected for the 2009 Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team.
UPDATE: Vontae Davis’s body was discovered in the Southwest Ranches site today, and police have verified this.
