Via The Daily Mail:
A Florida waitress has been accused of altering bills to increase the amount of tips left by customers.
Victoria Bachmann changed the tip amount on 134 bills for a total of $1,074.15 at the Ozona Blue Grilling Company from March 11 to April 10, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Bachmann, 21, was arrested on a grand theft charge May 5.
An arrest affidavit obtained by WTSP says ‘After receiving the bill for their food, the patrons would write in the tip amount they wanted to give to the Defendant.
‘The patrons who were victimized paid their bills using credit/debit cards, not in cash.
‘The Defendant then would place a higher tip amount into the computer against the patron’s credit/debit card without the patrons’ knowledge.’
Her managers then paid her in cash for the tips left on credit cards, according to the affidavit.
The scheme came to light after the restaurant requested repayment from credit card companies and the charges were found to be fraudulent, the document said.
Bachmann was released on a $2,000 bond. A phone number for Bachmann wasn’t available.
How long did she honestly think she would get away with altering tips? Makes me want to start double checking my account after tipping when I go out.
