A Wake Forest basketball coach was charged with assault for the Queens attack on a Florida tourist, who later died in the hospital, sources said.
Jamill Jones — an assistant coach at the ACC basketball program — allegedly slugged Boca Raton resident Sabor Szabo in the head early Sunday morning after Szabo was apparently drunk and banging on cars in Long Island City, according to law enforcement sources.
Szabo — in town for his stepsister’s wedding — was leaving his brother’s LIC hotel and looking for the ride he had called, his family claimed.Szabo was banging on multiple cars including Jones’ prior to the incident, sources said.
A local resident came outside amid the ruckus and Szabo punched that person in the face, according to the sources.
Jones then slugged the 35-year-old Szabo in the head causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. He later died from his injuries.
