World Series of Fighting is wasting no time making themselves players in the MMA world. Tonight’s card featured 3 championship fights and none of them disappointed.
int he first title fight Jessica Aguilar absolutely dominated Emi Fujino. Aguilar is widely considered the best flyweight in the world and she did nothing tonight to deter from that. In the first two rounds Aguilar used her stand up game to bust open the face of Fujino and in the 3rd she used a takedown to control the fight from the ground.
In the 4th and 5th rounds Aguilar slowed down the match with some dirty boxing against the cage and a bevy of nice jabs. She punctuated the fight with a takedown late in the 5th round. With performances like these it’s only a matter of time before the UFC beats down her door and gives her an offer she can’t refuse.
In the second championship fight Georgi Karakhanyan defended his title against Rick Glenn. Glenn came in confident but it was the champion that took the fight over early in the 1st round. An early takedown saw him in control and a deep arm bar by Georgi looked to have this fight over in the 1st but an amazing escape by Glenn turned the tide and he finished the round in control.
Glenn took that momentum into the 2nd round where he used his striking skills to pummel Georgi. Georgi spent most of the round curled into a ball in the corner of the cage. At the end of the round both fighters returned to their respective corners but only one came back out. Georgi’s corner stopped the fight due to a broken rib and Rick Glenn was named the new WSOF Featherweight champion.
In the main event Jesse Taylor put his Middleweight title on the line against David Branch. Branch wasted little time taking control of this fight. He attacked with the confidence of a champion and after pulling out of a choke by Taylor he gained side control and ended this fight with a submission of his own. It only took Branch a little over a minute to become the WSOF Middleweight champ but it was exciting nonetheless.
