The Yankees continue to pay tribute to their legendary retired closer, Mariano Rivera.
The city unveiled the newly named ‘Rivera Avenue’ on Monday, before a crowd of Yankees fans. The sign rests at the corner of 161st street in the Bronx.
An elated Mariano Rivera expressed his extreme gratitude during the ceremony, via CBS NY:
“This is way, way, way beyond baseball, definitely. It has nothing to do with baseball. I think it’s how you treat people, how you respect others and you receive the same love and respect back,…Amazing. I mean, I never thought something like this would happen.”
Amazing tribute to a man who helped build that stadium.
