Let's just be real here. Ben Roethlisberger has the potential to be a great QB but right now he is a good QB. Therefore, I am a bit concerned giving him an 8-year 102-million contract with 36-million guaranteed.
Why am I concerned? This is someone who has shown that he can be a little careless in the way he runs his life outside of football. This is someone that seems to irritate his teammates and doesn't show the passion for football like a Peyton Manning or a Tom Brady.
Look if someone was going to give me that kind of money, I would take it too, but the Falcons once gave a "good" QB a lot of money and look how that turned out.

You are well known around these parts for being the biggest ben hater ever. So it isn't a surprised to hear you once again bashing him. But ben has a 100 million reasons not to care what you say
Some cats consider Ben's payload rather excessive; but check this out. I stumbled upon this a few months ago while preparing for the '08 fantasy football season. The Steelers' O-Line ranked 31st in terms of sacks allowed. Thirty freakin' first! And yet, "Big Ben" scored 4th among all QB's in WCOFF fantasy points with 309.1 total. Brady scored 428.7, Romo 357.35, and Manning 326.75 in comparison. If he's scoring that high in fantasy football, then he's producing in real time as well; especially considering the O-line production or lack thereof. And if Ben's producing on the field, then produce his cheddar. Imagine a more improved O-Line. That would put his upside along side Mount Everest. I am definitely targeting him for my fantasy starting QB this year. I've known it since December '07.
Nope....... I'm a Raiders fan. With a killer - go for the juggler - fantasy football mentality. I'm telling you, fantasy guys, sleep if you want to. Peace in the Middle East. I'm Audi!

I say Ben deserves the money. He already won a Super Bowl (of course after the questionable TD he received). And after the hickup in the 2006 season (motorcycle accident, appendectomy), he got the team back to the playoffs in 2007, behind the line Corey spoke of, without Fast Willie who got hurt at the end of the season, and under a new head coach with no previous head coaching experience. Also, I didn't see the irritation of his teammates, unless you count Hines "Sensitivity" Ward who had something to say about Ben's comment about wanting tall receivers. But even that was squashed immediately, according to Ben. What I've seen from Ben is an uncanny ability of getting out of tackles and/or certain sacks behind that line. Now let's see how they play this year without the best lineman they had (Alan Fanaca).
No offense but you can't make an argument with fantasy numbers
Terrance, Terrance, Terrance (sigh, pause),
From what media outlet did you hear that blanket statement (because there are tons who utilize those same BS clichés and colloquialisms like - "Ground games when championships; NFL-Not For Long; It is what it is [oooh.. I can't stand that one]", etc.
It is simple. Those "fantasy points" that you so haphazardly allude to, would not be realized without on-field production. PERIOD!!! NO PRODUCTION.... NO POINTS!!! Ya don't get points for air. Something good on the field has to happen; over and over again.
And, I guess we can't "make an argument" regarding the fantasy points of the aforementioned players; Brady, Romo, Manning either. Hunh? I guess those points don't correlate or equate to squat. Yeah... that's it. We fantasy fans don't know ish about gridiron greatness. We're just game zombies running around in limbo. Right....? Wrong!
Most fantasy fans can name more players on a fan's favorite team than the fan him/herself; offense and defense included; on all 32 teams. Most fantasy fans subscribe to "NFL Sunday Ticket" and watch all the games. And I guess, according to you, they can't comprehend a damn thing that they view.
"No offense.." But, I think you need to research your stats. They don't lie. And oh, by-the-way.... Fantasy points are included in the stats category; if you weren’t aware. Peace!
My bad.... "win"; not "when"
I was getting pretty edgy reading this. If I say I’m disagreeing with your post I would say nothing. Reading this is meaningless waste of time.
This was a fantastically written post and the pics complement the tale wonderfully! I'll send it to my friend.
It also got me to wondering what it is that people get from these things. Do people really draw motivation from this stuff? I have been reading Darren Brown’ s Tricks of the Mind , or at least re- reading sections of it, this week. He points out that motivation is a strange sort of reification. People only talk about motivation in a negative way, he says. They only use the word if motivation is lacking. All that“ being motivated” means is that you are working. It doesn’ t really mean anything, as such. I’ m...
