Whereas the Suns seem to be coming together with Shaq (I'm still not a believer), the Mavs seem to be falling apart after the acquisition of Jason Kidd. Pastor Avery and Mark Cuban are fighting. J Kidd is getting destroyed by every young guard in the West (I still have visions of Chris Paul just killing him). Now Dirk has gone down and has gone down hard. They are saying he will be out for two weeks, but it appears to me that he will be out much longer. It is now quite possible the Mavericks will not make the playoffs.
The lesson to be learned here is unless you are fleecing a team in a trade (see: The Lakers getting Pau Gasol), it is best to stand pat. Now the Mavericks are stuck with Kidd, his bad contract, and buyer remorse. Good job Mr. Cuban!
