LOL. So KG has won Defensive Player of the Year.
I always start off my entries by stating whether I am a fan or not of the athlete that I am writing about. People, often times, take the words they see or hear and try to change the facts. Well, just to let you know, I am a big KG fan. But do I think he should have won NBA Defensive Player of the Year? Ummm....No.
He was 19th in steals, 25th in blocks, and 17th in rebounds
How they (meaning voting members of the media) can justify KG, I do not know. But what are the criteria for this award if KG receives 493 first place votes out of 846? I know the Celtics had a the biggest turnaround in history, but NBA Award voters, what exactly are you really trying to prove?
This is not a middle school graduation where people get Certificates of Attendance. You do not have to pacify an athlete with an award he doesn't deserve. KG has never been a "glory hog." Don't give him an award just because he won't win that "most prestigious" MVP award.

Yeah... it's hard to respect these dudes man. How they gone give this bul the DPOY Award? You can't use that best defensive player on the best defensive team theory. That doesn't make him the best defensive player in the league. That why you gotta turn your t.v. off half the time just to watch the game to block from the brainwashing. "These dudes" groupie-ish or tendy with how select the players for awards it's digusting. "These dudes" trying to talk everybody into believing Kobe is the MVP... when it's clearly Chris Paul. DIGUSTING!
He was DVOP because that is what ESPN said, you know the drill
Defensive isn't just about stats. The Celtics were one of the worse defensive teams in the league now they are the best and damn sure wasn't because of Ray Allen, look past the stats and you will see the value..
By the way Kobe is the MVP
Paul... Kobe has a flashier game, but as were speaking Chris Paul is dominating and controling the entire game. Come on 30 something points a game, over 10 assist a game. So you mean he's scoring like Lebron, assisting like Nash, stealing like AI, and got the ball in his hands all game long... but he's not the MVP? He has West is his 2nd best player... not Gasol or Odom.
They are both deserving but at some point you have to call a spade a spade. Kobe should get and deserves a MVP award... just not this year over Paul.
Omarr, I agree about the MVP. Kobe is my favorite player, but CP3 is embarrassing the Mavericks. Any doubt about his season has been cast away with his first playoff games ever. The homie is averaging 32 and 13(or something like that)
MVP is a regular season award..Kobe best player in the league on the best team in the West..Case closed
Cowardly voters? Wow. What are they afraid of? We throw around words so much and they don't mean anything. Paul is right...it's not about stats - its about impact and presence on the court along with stats. Only internet experts pull together stats and think that this is all there is.
Did you even watch more than 5 Celtics games this year Terrence? You don't know what the hell you talking about
