Dear Chad,
Wassup Ocho! It's ya boy Robert Littal. I'm sure you already know why I am sending this. I saw your interview on ESPN last night and, to be honest, I was a little disturbed.
Chad, you have to know by now ESPN is not your friend. Moreover, the media aren't your friends. They will never be friends to athletes like you even though, without you, they wouldn't exist. I know I've explained this to you before, Chad. We have talked about this several times. But, I'm going to break it down for you in a different way this time. So sit down and try to take it all in.
The media is a like a very beautiful woman who cheats on you constantly. You know she is going to do you wrong, but you are seduced by her beauty. Every time she cheats on you, she says she is sorry and invites you back. Every time, like the simp you are, you keep coming back and then she does it to you all over again. It's like the movie "Groundhog Day".
The beautiful woman will always cheat on the ones that come back. She doesn't cheat on the ones who generally treat her like crap (see: Roger Clemens). It doesn't matter how much the beautiful woman likes you. She will always be creeping behind your back because she knows that you lust for her attention. You are addicted to the attention like a drug. The message board people call people like you "Attention Whores". For lack of a better term, Chad, you need to pimp the beautiful woman and not let the beautiful woman pimp you.
Ocho, I know you see how they do T.O. ,and you know what they are labeling you now:
"THE NEW T.O."
Here's the thing about T.O. He is a Hall of Fame player who will forever be known more for his mouth than for what actually happened on the field of play. I don't want that to happen to you. Chad, you are too talented and too likable a guy to go down that road. It's too late for T.O., but it isn't too late for you. So pay close attention to these rules and we can turn this thing around quickly.
1- BE QUIET
I know this will be the toughest rule for you to follow. But, right now, the best thing for you, Chad, is to put your mouth on operation shutdown at least into the beginning of training camp. Don't talk to the media, either radio, newspaper or anyone who puts a microphone in front of your face (unless you want to do an exclusive interview with BSO). Right now, every sports publication, web site and TV outlet is going try to stir the pot. Don't let them!
2- ASSASSINS MOVE IN SILENCE
The best way to get traded is to not publicly make an issue of it, but privately. It is going to leak, but don't let that leak come from you. Deny everything. Force the team into the position of being the bad guy. Right now, your best strategy is to say you want to be a Bengal for life, while secretly working to get the hell out of town.
3- DON'T GIVE THEM A REASON TO "T.O." YOU.
Don't get suspended. I repeat, don't get suspended. I would not be surprised if the Bengals have decided as an organization to try to goad you into saying something or doing something that would allow them to suspend you. Don't let them do it. Get used to saying the phrase "No Comment."
4- JUST BE OCHO
When training camp starts, just be the same Ocho Cinco we all know and love. Just have fun and when the media starts in on you, just use that phrase "No Comment." Better yet, use the phrase "I want to keep it positive so I am not going to answer that question." The majority of your hard core fans are going to stay with you, no matter what. They will keep in mind all the positive things you bring to the NFL.
Honestly Chad, I feel that a lot of things that you are saying about the Begals organization are right on the money. Trust me when I tell you their problems do run a lot deeper than you. But, at this point, you're doing more damage to yourself than the Bengals ever could. So take a step back. Maybe, go to Mexico with Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. But get out of the spotlight for awhile and realize that you boys always ride with 85.
Sincerely,
Your BonaFide Sports Expert Robert Littal

"That's my friend and if you talk about him that will be wrong"
I need an open letter someone help me
Don't worry I got this
I don't agree with you at all Robert, like Chad says in the interview, he doesn't care what people say or think about him, he is doing what is right for him. He is only responding to criticisms that his front office and head coach is putting on him. It's also ridiculous to think that he is turning into T.O., he isn't throwing people under the bus or talking about what goes on in peoples lives or about their sexual preferences, he is responding to his coach and front office, thats it. Chad should do what he feels is right for him, and if thats DEFENDING himself against crazy remarks then he should, instead of pacifying himself like you suggest.
It doesn't matter that what he is saying is right. What matters is the perception that the media is placing on him. I don't think T.O. is as bad as T.O. but that is how the media has tagged him. Right now the media is using Chad and by not pimping the system they are pimping him and when the Bengals try to suspend him the media will be beating their chest.
Remember the media says T.O. is a team cancer but the facts are teams that Owens are on have over .600 winning % so the media doesn't care about facts they care about ratings and how do you drive ratings is by blowing things out of proportion and how do you blow things out of proportion is find someone willing to say things others are not.
All I am telling Chad is not to change but to be aware they are using you for their gain not to benefit him. I know Chad he is lying when he says he doesn't want people to like him. I know this for a fact.
I tend to agree with Littal only because I see where the media is twisted his words
I love me some me
Seems like Chad is whining so how is that the medias fault? I love Ocho Cinco but he should know when to keep quiet.
I agree but I doubt he will listen. He's hard headed and has the wrong people in his corner. He is a good guy and very competitive so to go out there every sunday and give 100% & gain nothing from it? The Bengals have only made it to the play offs 1 time since he's been there & now everyone wants to use his touchdown celebrations for the reason the Bengals cant get a win. The defense sucks the Bengals problems do not lie with the offense so how can we blame Chad? I dont agree with his methods but I understand why he feels the way he feels...but what Chad needs to understand its all in the delivery.
