National Outrage

So let me get this straight. Major League Baseball has absolutely no place for Barry Bonds. None. Zero.

Even though he could probably help some club, even if it's just as a DH, no one has any need for him. Even though he's reportedly offered to play for the league minimum and is willing to completely do without all of the superstar extras he had in San Francisco like the double wide locker, recliner, and big screen TV no one has so much as a roster spot to offer him. Even though a man who is guilty of the same steroid use as Bonds, Jason Giambi, is now back to slugging homers after serving no suspensions or anything, Bonds is persona non grata. This is disgusting.

Over the years baseball has allowed several serial drug users back into the game multiple times even though everyone believed they'd blow their next chance. Steve Howe , Darryl Strawberry, and Dwight Gooden were allowed to fail drug test after test and get arrested over and over while resuming their careers as soon as they were free and clean again. So now being a coke addict isn't as bad as allegedly taking steroids. What kind of world are we living now? A coke habit isn't as bad as temporary steroid use? Are you kidding me? Look, I'm not applauding steroid use. It's wrong, and it should have banned a long time ago. It's totally crazy that steroids were permitted in baseball even though they were illegal in the United States. But come on. Bonds isn't on trial for steroid trafficking (trafficking is what they lock you up for; you can have steroids if they are prescribed by a doctor), and the only reason we know for sure that he used them is because grand jury testimony was leaked. So, a guy uses something that was not a banned substance and gets blackballed, while guys who break the law and go to jail are allowed to come back. Right.....

Bonds can still play; last season he hit .276 with 28 home runs at age 42, in a park that is not known for being a hitters park. You think that a team like the Orioles, which has inconsistent run production, couldn't use him at DH? Of course they could! MLB has taken guys back who weren't anywhere near as productive and had off field problems, yet we hear from Bonds' agent that they got nothing. And then we hear from various media outlets that no one wants him because he has too much baggage. Well, he didn't have any less baggage a year ago and yet the Giants kept him around to sell tickets and fill the stadium on his way to breaking Hank Aaron's home run record. So please, don't talk about baggage. The guy is a jerk, I'll admit that. And MLB allowed, if not pushed, him to become the face of steroids. So it's obvious that they hope to get absolution for their sins by banishing him, and if they can do so without having to suspend or banning him officially even better. By now we shouldn't expect any better from the guys in Bud Selig's office, but it still reeks of hypocrisy.

It is collusion plain and simple

Don't forget about me

I don't know if you guys are baseball fans or not but this Barry Bonds thing is getting old.

Barry Bonds was a poor teammate everywhere he played. He left no friends anywhere. And if you haven't noticed, there hasn't been one single player standing up for him. That should tell you something.

His knees are bad so what's he gonna do for a NL team? As great as the parity is in the MLB right now is, one dropped pop up or a bad throw can cost teams championships, hell even making the playoffs!

He could DH in the AL but who doesn't have hitters in the AL? No one! Pitching is what's in short supply and last I checked he's not one!

The best thing he can do is officially retire. It's like people who piss all over a good thing and then expect love in return.

Barry still thinks his star is shining and it's faded a long time ago. The Giants gave him an opportunity and a lot of money to get the homerun crown. Now it's time for him to retire.

And people who don't actually watch baseball who I doubt have seen him play one game, will stop saying he's being blackballed.

He wasn't liked before you saw him in the news and he sure as hell isn't now that he really can't get around in the outfield anymore.

Please stop with empty conspiracy theories.

He's just past his prime!

tell them how you really feel Antario

let's see now...in 126 games he batted 276 hit 28 home runs and had 66 runs batted in...oh yeah,he's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past his prime..who doesn't have hitters in the AL... how about A's???..how about the angels?????how about the rays...all of those teams are in contention.and they all lack one thing...A DOMINANT HITTER..bonds could fit that role for them perfectly......why haven't either one of tnhose teams contacted him???...one word...COLLUSION!!!!!.......IT'S FUCKING OBVIOUS..next time,do your homework idiot!!!!

It's not collusion in the classic sense; I doubt that there was some back room meeting where Bud Selig and the owners all agreed to not sign Bonds. I just think that there are some scared GMs who don't want to have to deal with the media crush that will come with bringing him in and the questioning of their own integrity. I think that's hypocritical because these same GMs will bring back spousal abusers, drug abusers, drunks, and players who just aren't very productive anymore but have made the right friends in high places but when it comes to Bonds they suddenly get religion.

If he was white he would be playing now it is as simple as that
