"GOD" FAVRE IS COMING BACK, BUT TO WHO???

favrebears.jpg

You might be surprised but I don't blame Brett Favre for this drama of the Young and The Favreless. I blame Favre for bad interceptions and talking publicly about retiring every year for the past twenty, but not for asking for his unconditional release from the Packers and the reason is simple.

The Packers never wanted Favre and not just this year but for the past three years and didn't have the guts to tell him. All of this could have been avoided if the Packers organization wasn't so frightened of fan backlash and just did what they have been wanting to do for years.

Instead what they did was forced Favre hands by saying he had to make a decision quickly about if he was coming back with the team or retiring. While I understand the logic behind it they had to know that Favre who has had thoughts of retiring in the previous offseason might get the itched to play again.

It is one thing to go out on top like John Elway or when you body just can't take it anymore like Joe Namath, but it is another thing to retire one win away from the Super Bowl and physically there is nothing wrong with you. Favre may throw interception at the absolutely wrong time but last year he was a Top 5 quarterback in the league and some would say Top 3.

So don't think teams like the Jets, Ravens, Bears and more wouldn't be chomping at the bit to see if he can be the missing piece to take them over the top. If I was the Packers organization I would just cut my losses and let him go because they are in a no win together.

Are you ready for another year of "God" Favre?

Why does he call him "GOD" sorry I am new to the site

He calls he the "god" because the way in general the media and the fans treat him in light of some of his playoff performances

Farve needs to go to the Vikings, his best shot at winning a title this season.

definitely the vikings

I think you're right to a point. Let's remember that it was the Packers who begged Brett Favre to come back last year, even going to his house to convince him to return. Even if they were concerned about fan backlash, I doubt they would have gone that far if they really didn't want him back.

ESPN is currently reporting that in fact the Packers and Favre had agreed on his return back in March, but Favre backed out and decided to retire. Now, if that's the case, then it I fully understand why the Packers are reacting the way they are. When he gave that emotional tear-filled (crocodile tears?) retirement press conference, the Packers were set to move forward.

As a franchise, they have to move forward without Favre. They cannot keep playing this game with him, holding up the team every year because he can't make up his mind. He has to understand that the Packers were around before him and they will be around long after he's gone.
