Lets get this off the top. Usain Bolt broke one of the most coveted track and field records ever in impressive fashion. He should be praised and congradulated like every other world-class athlete on the big stage putting on a show. Understand, Bob Costas (go figure) and the rest of the media has this one dead wrong. Damn the fact that this kid is running as if he has a nitro button in his pocket. I mean the first thing I think about when I see Bolt run is "Beep Beep.." and all I can do is laugh in disbelief that a man can move this fast on two legs.
The thing that bothers me about Costas and anyone who says he's showboating is that why isn't breaking the record good enough? These self-proclaimed "judges" or "perfectionist" have somehow forgot that these people are human. So your essentially telling a kid, 21 years of age, who's existence up to this point is to be an Olympian and try to win a gold metal for his country that he can't get happy or be excited about his accomplishment? What?! 'Please oh please' Associated Press at least explain to people why you are so mad?
I'm sure Bob Costas never experienced the excitement you get when you've achieved something in sports but somehow he has the rule book on how athletes should act. We all know that old Bob couldn't say with a straight face that all his heros in his favorite past-time never showboat when they hit home-runs. But then again, I bet that's alright because that's the sport he loves. This reminds me of the obligatory criticism of Team USA basketball every 4 years getting called arrogant because they can jump higher, dunk harder and play with flair. You know, it's almost like Wade is not suppose to do reverse dunks if the european players can't, or Kobe shouldn't make his man look bad with a crossover because that's somehow showing off. Basically getting penalized for athletic superiority. I hate to bring the "R" word into this but underneath all the layers of bs I think it definitely plays a part in all these ridiculous notions. I wish I was wrong.
It'll be a great day in sports when the Media stops worrying about small stuff, and focus on what counts. Stop being quick to call something showing off when others might consider it flair or excitement and a way to celebrate. The story is not Iverson's tattoos people, it's how at 6 feet he does what he does in a league of giants. It's not how Manny Ramirez wear his hair, it's how he's a first ballot Hall of Famer and better than a lot of Legends that have been made out to be John Wayne-like folk heros. What Bolt did was a blur of greatness and he should be immortalized, breaking a record than no one thought could ever be broken. Last time I checked excellence should be exalted not knit-picked apart. It's sad when some in the media just don't understand that the focal point is the feat, not what color shoes he had on or what his facial expression was when it was accomplished.

Are you guys americans or jamacians they way this site is on his nuts
No they are Asians, what a question. Usain Bolt is greatness...
This site is for sports fan and not haters. Bolt just created history 3 gold medals 3 world records.
It has nothing to do with Red,White, and Blue. Mr. Bolt trains here in the states...it is the "R" word. This brother is fast..period.Bob Costas, Jim Lampley, NBC and Brian Gumbel are all clowns. It is no different with the TEAM USA basketball.IF there were 12 white guys, it would be grit and hard work. But with brothers we are show boating.Bolt is a freaking BEAST along with Phelps. I dont care what country he is from..I recognize greatness when it is in my face.Team Jamaica should be proud.
The United States covered Michael Phelps, Why?
Because Michael ran for the United States and not some other country. You don't need a Masters Degree to figure out why a U.S. Television network covers the U.S. record breaking, history making, successive world record breaking U.S. successes and does not make a huge celebrity of a Jamaican, Russian, or Brazilian. Good for Usain he is fabulous, record and history making runner, just not our country's history making athelete. Hey he trained here in the United States in the luxury of our country's economy and lifestyle. Omarr, it's your job to stir the kettle with weird comments. But why don't you do a comparison on the television coverage in Jamaica, Canada, and Britain for Usain. Omarr you stir the kettle with such a stereotypcial excuse "oh poor me" syndrome. As far as greatness there are a lot of great atheletes that don't grandstand and for that matter don't even get recognized and are happy that they are able to succeed on a personal level. Let's thank those people who paid for Usain's living quarters, training, gas, food, and entertainment while he lived in the United States so that he could make his birth right country of Jaimaca proud. Television gave him his recognition, the world gave him his 15 minutes of fame. Usain will never lose those moments everyone else will forget by Labor Day.
GA, I hear what you saying and talking about but Maybe just maybe you should read the article AGAIN! because I think you "missed it"
"Let's thank those people who paid for Usain's living quarters, training, gas, food, and entertainment while he lived in the United States " and "Mr. Bolt trains here in the state"...
Let us get this straight once and for all guys.... Usain Bolt has never lived or trained in the United States of America or any other country (other than when he is over there to compete in a race)... He lives in Jamaica and trains completely in Jamaica with a Jamaican coach and goes to a Jamaican University..
That's all, folks!
