According to ESPN.com, the Houston Rockets organization purchased four tractor trailers full of food, water, and toiletries for the Hurricane Ike victims and unloaded them at a distribution center today which was a total of 80,000 pounds. Players such as Rafer Alston and Luther Head amongst others helped out and greeted the people who came to pick up the supplies. Fortunately the Toyota Center did not suffer any damage like Reliant Stadium but the rest of the city was not nearly as fortunate. Regardless I give the Rockets credit for putting something like this together. I hope that other teams in the Houston area like the Texans and Astros do the same thing. Hopefully in the aftermath of a natural disaster no matter what city, there can be teams who can take a cue from the Rockets and do their part. I mean without the fans they wouldn't be where they are today its nice to realize the Rockets wanted to return the favor.
Props to the Houston Rockets
