According to the Associated Press, Richard Collier is paralyzed from the waist down and will never walk again. Now when you usually hear of something like this you think its a football-related injury. As we all know that is not the case, but as a result of being shot earlier this month. He was shot 14 times. I repeat 14 times. Clearly we are not all naive enough to think this was a random act of violence because it clearly wasn't. He managed to survive being shot at 14 times but not without having his: left leg amputated due to blood clots from the shooting, five bullets removed from his urinary bladder, bullet wounds to the back, left groin, left legs, and right buttock, a bullet severed his spinal cord which caused the paralysis, suffering bouts of pneumonia, infections, and renal failure.
Despite all this he is now in good condition and in a blessing in disguise he has no memory of the shooting. Now after hearing all this, Richard Collier is one tough dude, I mean the fact that his career is over is meaningless at this point. He is lucky to even be alive something that can't be said for Sean Taylor or Darrent Williams or anyone who dies after being shot. Let this be a lesson to all it doesn't matter who you are if you are at the wrong place at the wrong time anything can happen. Unfortunately Richard Collier is just another tragic example of this.
