NFL Week 6 Wagering Game of the Week - Bears at Falcons

It’s the sixth week of online football wagering action, and BetUS has all of your wagering options covered. On Sunday afternoon, the Chicago Bears (3-2, 3-1-1 ATS) invade the Georgia Dome to battle with the surprising Atlanta Falcons (3-2, 3-2 ATS).

Though the Falcons may be smiling right now, they won’t be grinning for long if recent history holds up. Since 1992, the Bears have dominated Atlanta, going 5-1 SU and 5-0-1 ATS. The Falcons have only averaged scoring 7.8 points per game in their L/5 outings against Chicago. Since 1985, Atlanta’s only win against the Bears came in ’98; Chicago is 8-1 SU for BetUS sportsbook faithful during that stretch.

All of a sudden, a Bears offense that looked dead in the water when Kyle Orton was named the starting quarterback looks formidable. Chicago has put up at least 24 points in four of its first five games this season, including last weekend’s 34-7 whooping of the Lions in Detroit.

Orton looked like Joe Montana, as he carved up the hapless Lions defense for 334 yards and two touchdowns. Chicago dominated just about every statistic, as they destroyed Detroit in time of possession, rushing yards, passing yards, sacks, and turnovers. The 27-point margin of victory was more than enough to beat the closing football betting line of (-3.5).

Atlanta has been a mixed bag all season, but if you had told Falcons fans at the beginning of the season that they’d be 3-2 after five weeks, they’d probably take it.
Last week was a bit surprising, as the Falcons went into Lambeau Field and upset the Green Bay Packers 27-24 as 3.5-point underdogs, even though the line suggested that the oddsmakers thought that Aaron Rodgers wasn’t starting under center for the Pack.

Rookie QB Matt Ryan is making the Falcons front office look like geniuses for selecting him so early in the draft, as he went 16/26 for 194 yards and two scores in the victory. A lot of success for Falcons bettors can be attributed to prize free agent acquisition RB Michael “The Burner” Turner. The Northern Illinois product ran for 121 yards and a TD on Sunday, and now leads the league with 543 rushing yards and six rushing scores. Turner’s on pace to have more rushing yards himself (1,738) than the Falcons did as a team last season (1,520).

Even though their history with the Bears would probably suggest avoiding Atlanta like the plague this weekend, football bettors may be surprised that some other betting trends point towards investing in the Falcons. Atlanta is already 2-0 SU and ATS this year against NFC North opponents, while the Bears are 0-2 SU and 0-1-1 ATS against their two NFC South opponents. Week 6 hasn’t been the week for Bears bettors either, as they are just 2-10 ATS in their L/12 Week 6 games.
That said; Da Bears are still favored by 3-points on the NFL betting line, with the ‘total’ coming in at 43.5.

No matter whether you plan on backing the Bears or flying with the Falcons, BetUS Sportsbook has all of your wagering options covered, so login into your account right now and get your football wagers down in this critical NFC showdown!
