ESPN to provide some Christmas and Postseason Magic

Magic%2520Johnson.jpgESPN has announced that they have signed Magic Johnson as an NBA analyst for the Christmas Day tripleheader and the NBA Postseason. He will be alongside Michael Wilbon, Jon Barry, and Stuart Scott. I just don't quite understand this move I mean the NBA season starts in about two weeks and he won't be seen until Christmas and then the Postseason. Seems rather pointless to announce it now, then again maybe its in light of those accusations of him faking HIV and in turn him ripping those radio hosts they want to cash in on the free pub.

Putting all that aside, I have seen Magic on TNT and was not impressed and of course he had that talk show that is urban legend for how awful it was. Seems to me if not for the fact he was "Magic Johnson" he probably wouldn't be considered for these positions. To me he's the Emmitt Smith of the NBA in that regard. Great player but bad analyst.
