Philadelphia Eagles

At 2-3 the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves 3 games back in this blood bath of a division. Since the NFL insist on keeping the current playoff format it looks like one of these teams won't make it to the dance. Even though were just 5 weeks in, the Eagles are in trouble. News came out today that Westbrook has cracked ribs and he makes this offense go. When he's healthy he actually covers up a lot of holes but when injured they get exposed. This team has no real fullback which is painfully obvious in their short yardage run game, which has been killing them these past couple weeks. They have a TE in LJ Smith who loses any interest in playing the position if he's not going out for a pattern. In any successful West-Coast O you need some solid TE play and he's stealing money.

It has to be annoying for Eagles fans to hear Donovan say that there's no way they should of lost to the Redskins because they are the better team. McNabb has been saying that for a year now, Trent Cole seems to think they are a great team. This is part of the problem. At some point you are what you are. It doesn't seem to resignate with them that almost every team that loses can say should of, could of, would of. They always should of won. I'm not saying they are a bad team by no means, but until you look in that mirror and be real it's hard to get to that level you think you should be at.

More than any time in recent memory the fans are questioning Andy Reid. The current trend is that the Eagles look like world beaters in the 1st half and the Detroit Lions in the 2nd half. There's plenty of time left with teams like the Niners on the schedule and some other cupcakes but adjustments need to be made now.

Dallas Cowboys

This is the team the national media needs to ride to keep their ratings up. With No Tom Brady and no Peyton Manning they need them to truly be America's Team. It kind of worked at first and although sitting team pretty at 4-1 they have their own set of issues. As I mentioned in my NFC Preview in August I don't think that Wade Phillips is a good coach and he hasn't done anything yet to convince me otherwise. This team seems to only look like a potentially dominant Super Bowl team when everything is clicking. They are official tissue when Romo can sit back in the pocket all day, throw the ball for 300 yards, T.O. and Witten burning defenders up and down the field and putting up Tecmo Bowl numbers against teams. But when an opposing team actually fights back you see the flaws of a weak-minded team, Romo moping around, T.O. doing his usual and the coach looking lost. The defense is the weakest D in the division so far.

Again they are still 4-1 and still have as good a shot as anyone but this team is still feeling themselves way too much as i still hear that sense of entitlement when you hear them talk. This is all on Wade.

New York Giants

I don't want to talk too much about the Plaxico Burress situation because it's obviously a dead issue that this team has put behind them. The whole "Plaxico doesn't regret it" thing that members of the sports media are trying to give legs is a non-story as far as i'm concerned. I'm not going to bash a man who says he had an emergency issue involving his son. He got fined and suspended so lets move on. I will talk about how the Giants trashed the Seahawks and we can talk about the 'Hawks bad offense but the defense was suppose to be respectable. Right? I mentioned the Giants could be the deepest team in the league at wideout, you seen that come to light yesterday. I'm not sure what the weakness is on this team but when you find out please shoot me a holler.

With the Browns up next on MNF (I can't stomach Kornheiser) and the Niners afterwards, Big Blue should be and I stress should be 6-0 going into the Pittsburgh game. If Big Ben is still standing by then we should be in for a who's the best QB to come out of the 04 draft showdown. One thing I do worry about is the Giants special teams, they're obviously missing David Tyree. Another thing to look out for is t to handle prospeirty. This team is the underdog's underdog and they thrive off of it. They might not have that luxury as we go on.

Washington Redskins

Don't look now but the 'Skins are flat-out getting it done. I can remember just a month ago when a certain BSO Writer (Shout out to Rob Bonnette) just knew his D.C. Skins were going to be a mess but look what a little patience does? You have to take this team seriously because you're not suppose to go on the road and win two straight division games in the east. This is simply not allowed in the NFC East. Hell I picked the Eagles to win just based on this rule alone. The 'Skins like the Giants don't have the flash but they have no problem grinding it out and doing whatever needs to be done to get the W. I thought rookie Head Coach Jim Zorn was going to be a liability coming in but he actually outcoached Reid and Philips the past two weeks. This being done without Sean Springs, without Jason Taylor both arguably their best two defensive players. How are they getting it done? Bottom line is they have a winning formula. Notice how they stuck with the run against the Eagles down two touchdowns, they keep everything in front of them on defense and they don't make mistakes on offense. Don't get it twisted they do have gamebreakers in Moss, Portis and Cooley but overall they are more substance than style which is why they won't get the respect they deserve.

Jason Campbell has not made the big mistakes so far that he was prone to make in key spots last year. Chris Samuels has anchored a offensively line that is turning into one of the better groups in the league. They are 4-1 and with no more division road games left and if your a Skins fan looking at the schedule you have to like this teams chances.

NCF East: 5 weeks in, 19 games played, 14 wins and 5 loses and we're just getting started.

Redskins domination

I'm a true hard Dallas fan, and I can say that our 4-1 record is a fluke.. its only 5 games in and I can say I'm very dissapointed with this years team... They lack Heart, Drive, and that Nastiness. Our defense will be our achilles heel, and our downfall... Wade Phillips and Brian Stewart have no f'ing clue how to run a defense. We have good defensive players, but no one to coach them up.. Terrance Newman is stealing money, and the rest of the secondary looked lost. Tony Romo regressed, he reached his peak last season.. This is my last year with him before I throw the OVER RATED label on him. Jason Garret next in line as coach, looks questionable with his play calling. I'm not settled on him either... I hope by the graces of god, Jerry lures Bill Cowher, a coach who will get in these players faces and light a fire under their azz, not some prozack taking coach like Wade who shows no emotion, and looks lost majority of the damn time, camp cupcake running. STOP BEING A FAN AND COACH FOR ONCE.
