Elite XC goes kaput
Sports Illustrated Confirmed that Elite XC is done. No surprise here really; they banked everything on Kimbo Slice and once he got whupped, they had nothing to work with other than recycling washed up UFC guys like Ken Shamrock. If you want a prime example of how not to run an entertainment business venture, look at Elite XC. They put their entire fate in the hands of Slice, known for his backyard fights on Youtube against guys that aren't much good, when there was no evidence that he had the necessary skill set to compete against fighters with formal training and real experience in MMA events. It didn't help that Slice was a boxer (or should I say puncher?) and nothing else, which is a recipe for disaster in MMA. To be honest with you, I thought he'd lose when the fight with Shamrock was announced; he may be over the hill, but Shamrock still has enough to beat a fraud like Slice. Slice's 'career' was like the people on American Idol who can sing one song just well enough to get past the frst audition, but get exposed as soon as they have to sing different types of songs week after week. (On a side note, can any MMA junkies out there explain to me why these guys seem to have zero career longevity? It seems that right after they go mainstream, they go over the cliff. Am I wrong?)
Dallas isn't dead yet
As much as I enjoyed seeing the Cowgirls get whupped by the Rams, I have to admit that it's way too early to celebrate their demise just yet. For one, they were without Tony Romo. Second, Roy Williams hasn't gotten broken in yet as their second receiver. Once Romo comes back and Roy gets up to speed, they'll be more than dangerous. The big thing for them to do is to get through the next two weeks with at least a split so they can come back after the bye week at full strength to play my Redskins. Their remaining games are against the Skins, Eagles, Giants (twice), Steelers, Ravens, Seahawks, Niners, and Bucs. You can probably give them the wins over the Niners and Seahawks, which would get them to six, but they're going to have to fight for everything else. 10-6 or 11-5 still isn't out of the question if they weather the storm for the next two weeks. If they go 0 for 2, they could have some real problems catching up later. And all that being said...
Wade Philips may not last the season Just a prediction here. Most of the low hanging fruit as far as coaches on the ot seat has been dealt with. Scott Linehan and Lane Kiffin were let go already, and word is that Mike Nolan has gotten run as well. Marvin Lewis awaits the reaper in Cincinnati, but may hang on since the Brown family is known for not wanting to pay guys to not work. But if the Cowboys lose both of their next two games and are 4-5 going into the by week, Jerry Jones just might pull the trigger. Phillips is constantly getting punked by Jones in front of the players, and his successor Jason Garrett is already making more money than he is. That's usually a sign that you won't be around much longer.
Bud Selig and the TV execs are hating life right now. Of all the possible World Series matchups, they got the one most likely to draw a tiny television audience. Rays-Phillies sounds great on paper but like I keep saying, everyone likes to write about or talk about underdogs, but no one likes to actually watch them. The casual fans wanted Boston-LA so we could see Manny against his old team; this other thing we don't care about. That rating is going to be abysmal.

yeah normally when you money guy loses to a gay guy with pink hair it is time to close up shop
Well EliteXC is going down because they had money trouble way before they got on TV. The organization will be bought by either Showtime or NBC because it has alot of potential and great personalities. EliteXC promoted incorrectly and has bad management, they have at least 10 potential star they are not using, male and female. If you want to see career longevity you should see GSP, BJ Penn, Takanori Gomi if you want to see longevity. Most of the fighters you hear going mainstream have already been in the game 10 years and are on the downside of their career.
