George Karl "Frontin"

In professional sports for whatever reason the players are held to a different standards then their superiors. It's almost as if players have to be courtesy, respectful and take the high road while coaches can get their Singletary on whenever they feel like it.

Leads me to what George Karl did to Iverson after the Nuggets traded him to Detroit. Karl criticized Iverson after he left basically saying he has a shoot first mentality, wasted a lot of possessions and took too many bad shots. My problem with Karl is first off he's not a good coach and he obviously trying to save his ass with this bs. The Nuggets knew exactly what they we're getting when they traded for A.I. Earth to Karl - A.I. is not a point and I know Ol' Larry gave you the run down on what you we're getting. Or maybe Karl forgot that AI didn't single-handedly kill his best shot at the Finals to date in the 01 playoffs by "passing" the ball to Eric Snow in. They knew they we're getting a 2-guard in a point guards body, one of the best scorers to ever play the game, 3rd in NBA history in points per game. It's not about Iverson vs. Billups, because only one of them will be a 1st ballot Hall of Famer. Look Iverson came to Denver and played as advertised. His shot attempts actually went down, his percentage went up and he maintained his scoring. He became a more efficient player. Denver just got beat by better teams, losing to the Spurs and the Lakers in their last two post season appearances. Bottom line.

For Karl to make the statement he made about Iverson wasting possessions makes me laugh. If in fact he cared so much about precious possessions you'd think he actually change his flawed philosophy and slow down the ball. For a team that played no defense because of his style to run and gun and shoot early in the shot clock good, you'd think he'd play a slow down game to help his team play solid D and have better posessions. No, Karl is feeling the pressure because he's coming up short and he's now attempting to blame Iverson because the team never acquired a good point guard to truly take full advantage of what the AI-Melo tandem could have been.

I believe basketball nuts like myself and those in and around the Denver area know that Karl's refused to adjust his style to his team and insisted on imposing his flaky fake Junior Varsity Phoenix Suns style of play on a team that didn't have the point guard to run it. This style is great when you're hitting shots, but when your missing it kills your defense. I don't know whether Karl statements on the surface is true or not, that's up for opinion but what I do know is that A.I. played about as good as you can ask a scoring guard to play and he was not the reason they couldn't make it out of the 1st round.

I'll dig a little deeper, Karl you'll always be second to Larry Brown in Deans eyes and even with all Browns pre-maddons-isms he went to the Finals with the same player you're blaming your failures on. You know why? Because he knew what he was doing.

My two cents on the trade

It will work out for both teams. Detroit needed a star scorer and a difference maker at the offensive end in crunch time. The Nuggets needed a true point distribute the ball between and up and coming Jr. Smith, NeNe and Melo. Really the Nuggets just have a slightly better Andre Miller back on the team and the only reason they might be a little better is because of the development of Smith. Detroit has a chance to really do challenge in the East adding Iverson to a team that already has all the other pieces you need to win. It's going to come down to if Stuckey is ready for prime time or not.

The sad thing is the biased sports media agrees with Karl. Wake up people!

Please, if you are going to report the news get the facts straight and don't just add to someone else's already wrong second hand story. You were not present when the interview took place and neither was the idiot reporter in philly, who started this rumor. Why can't Philly leave A.I. alone? And, why is it that people want to always believe the bad about everyone. All of this was taken out of context. Call one of the three reporters that was present and asked them? That would be the responsible thing to do.

Thank you

I been wanting Karl to pack his bags for a minute now. He has shown a inability to adjust to his roster. Walli bra I think people are simply just reading between the lines from what Karl said.

I did pick up on how the major media outlets were making Karl seem like the good guy, but they never really understood AI, or wanted to.
