Most Misguided Perception: That Juan Manuel Marquez beat Manny Pacquiao. Manny knocked Marquez down 4 times in 2 fights and yet still people complain about the decisions. Manny wasn't dropped once. I've used this metaphor before, but if you yourself ever fight someone and knock him down 4 times and you don't get dropped at all, rest easy because you did not lose that fight. Period. It's not Manny's fault that Marquez keeps hitting the deck. Quit moaning about it, get off the canvas finally and fight someone else. You can't be serious.

Most Misguided Perception Part 2: That Pacquiao can beat Mayweather. He can't. Beating De la Hoya caused people to think Manny can get with Floyd. Wrong. PBF isn't a shot fighter, he doesn't get tired and wear down, he'll throw punches, he'll duck and slip punches, and he'll do to Manny what he did to Ricky Hatton. Lure him into a trap. When Manny lunges forward like he does, Mayweather will use Pacquiao's momentum against him, use that check left hook, and it's all over.

Don't be confused, Manny's a midget. Size matters when two fighters of equal talent and skill are matched against one another. You saw how much bigger Oscar was...Floyd's about as big. Prime Oscar would have disposed of Manny quickly. But he's done, and in the process the De la Hoya mashing gave people the wrong idea that Pacquiao could hang with big, world class fighters. He can if they're all as old and slow as Oscar. But Floyd's not. If they fight, there will be a knockout and the Philippines won't be celebrating.

Fighter of the Year: Hands down Manny Pacquiao. He started off with a win over Juan Manuel Marquez, moved up in weight and captured a Lightweight belt in his victory over David Diaz, and moved up again and humiliated Oscar de la Hoya. Manny has now solidified his status as the best pound for pound boxer and more importantly, most entertaining fighter to watch.

It's not often that the most exciting fighters to watch also happen to be the best at their trade. Case in point Arturo Gatti. His pay per view #'s always did very well, he always sold out Atlantic City, but he was never an elite fighter. Fans don't always care about wins and losses, we want to be entertained. Pacquiao does both. Hats off for Manny.

Fight of the Year: Antonio Margarito vs. Miguel Cotto. When I watched this fight, I thought Cotto was completely outclassing the Tijuana Tornado. He would throw a burst of combinations, move to a different area of the ring, wait for Margarito and hit him with another powerful combination. The only problem was, AM didn't care. He just kept coming forward, walking through shots. He psychologically destroyed Cotto, who ended up going to one knee without even being hit in the final round. His corner knew it was over.

I'm a huge fan of Cotto, but I think he's finished. He had his heart taken, just like Hopkins took Trinidad's back in the day. I don't believe Cotto will be the same fighter. I saw him run away a little bit against Sugar Shane when they fought, and I came to the conclusion that after fighting so many years, Cotto is simply tired of getting hit in the face. This happens to brawlers at some point. Cotto will win his tune up bout coming up soon against Johnny Nobody, but Margarito will knock him out again in the rematch. Count on it.

Most Feared Fighter: Hands down Paul Williams. No one wants to see him at 147...no one. Just like Floyd turned down 8 million to fight Margarito and instead fought Baldomir for 1.5 million, Margarito turned around and did the same thing, leaving 8 large on the table for a fight against Williams and fighting Cotto for the 1.5. I have mad respect for Margarito, but he has to shut up about being the most feared fighter in boxing. He's not even the most feared Welterweight. And if he wants to prove otherwise, Paul Williams is waiting for him, anytime and anywhere.

Paul Williams now has to go to 160lbs, 154lbs, and beg people to fight him. Fine, but it's not the same. I don't want to be Joe Calzhage here, but this is where boxing goes wrong. Back in the day, Sugar Ray Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Ray Robinson, Tyson, Holyfield, you name it. They fought the best. Paul Williams is in his prime, can generate big money fights, and still everyone ducks him. Give the fans what they want to see. That's what UFC is doing, and if boxing wants to compete in this day and age and stay relevant that's what they're going to have to do. Someone please free Paul Williams.

Most Likely Breakout Star: Andre Berto, Juan Manuel Lopez, and David Haye certainly have a case to make for this award. But I have to go with Chad Dawson. He's got height, length, speed, power, and skill. The 5 tools of boxing. He definitely has to work on his defense because he takes too many shots that he need not take. You want to know what would be deadly? Floyd Mayweather Sr. training Chad Dawson. He'd learn the defensive aspects of boxing and be in phenomenal condition every fight. Consider it Chad Dawson, you'd go up another level.

This is JP Sutherland...signing off.

You are blind JP just cause you get knockdown doesn't me you lose. You love Wlad but he got knocked down 3 times by Fat Sam Peter and still won a decision can you explain that.

Yo PJ, Tell Mayweather that he can get up and get out his cash couch and out of retirement so I Can put him back into it... For good!

Everyone is ducking me

I believe that JMM still deserves a chance against Pacquiao, as he is the only one who can go toe-to-toe against the Filipino. With regards to Pacquiao not winning against Prett Boy, I beg to disagree.

Pacquiao is one of those fighters who can digest the gameplan almost instantly. He was impressive against ODLH, JMM, and David Diaz last year. And all three has different fighting styles, requiring three different game plans.

I am sure that a Pretty Boy-Pacman fight would certainly be a close match, but I will give it to Manny nonetheless.
