Don't be fooled, don't be manipulated by ESPN. T.O. is a convenient scapegoat for the Dallas Cowboys, but if we look a little deeper I think you will find the truth.
First off everyone knows T.O. pouts and whines. This is no different than any other Wide Receiver in the league and if you are thinking that your team best Wide Receiver doesn't do it I hate to burst your bubble yes he does. Doesn't matter if it is Hines Ward, Marvin Harrison, Ocho Cinco, Steve Smith or whoever they all want the ball. They all think they are open and they all express their frustrations when they don't get it. So T.O. isn't unique in that matter. The fact that he is T.O. is what makes it a story. Do I think T.O. thinks that Tony Romo throws too much to Jason Witten? I surely do. Do I think that T.O. thinks Tony Romo doesn't throw to him enough? I surely do. Do I think this gets on Tony Romo's nerves? I surely do. But the most important question is do I think this is what is causing problems with the Cowboys season?
ABSOLUTELY NOT
This non-story was broken by Ed Werder from ESPN.com. It is common knowledge that T.O. has not been talking to Werder all year, so it wasn't a surprise that Werder went sniffing around for "Unnamed" players to get the dirt of Owens. One thing the report fails to do is talk to either Romo or Owens about how they feel about the situation. Also why are those "unnamed" players so afraid to speak on record? In almost every other ESPN story that have to do with players commenting on other players those players are named but mysteriously of all sudden no sources are needed.
What also do we make of these "unnamed" players who feel the need to spill "locker room" gossip to Werder? What do these "unnamed" players feel they are going to accomplished by throwing Owens's under the bus?
I will tell you why because they are trying to deflect blame on T.O. for their failures and it is working perfectly. T.O. isn't the problem with the Cowboys, but ESPN has pounced to make sure everyone think he is based off "unnamed" player's opinions. Be a man and if you want to call out a teammate in the media state your name.
Who is really the bad teammate? T.O. who for the most part has kept his emotions in check or the "unnamed" teammates who a gossiping like high school teenagers?
When you have a sinking ship the easiest thing to do is throw the blame on someone else. It is similar to accusing a convict of a crime not because he did it, but because he did it before so it is easier to believe.
I am not naïve to the situation Terrell Owens is a diva, says the wrong things at the wrong time, is insecure and probably has a couple of screws loose, but this isn't news people and this isn't a front page story.
ESPN went looking for dirt and got some "so-called" teammates to try to bury T.O. just so they had a story to tell this weekend. Don't think it is a coincidence that this was reported after Owens's called Keyshawn Johnson and Emmitt Smith "Dumb and Dumber". For years ESPN has had a grudge against T.O. and this is just another example of this.
Most of you are going to fall for it hook, line and sinker. There are articles on this site who will refute everything what I am saying, but I asked my own source within the Cowboys organization there take on the situation:
"T.O. has been the same since he came to the Cowboys and nothing has changed if anything he has been better this year. The difference between Romo and the other QBs that T.O. has had is that Romo ignores him when he goes off. There are players on the team who don't like T.O., Werder knew who those players were and they are mostly 2nd and 3rd string guys who are jealous of Owens and had no problem throwing him under the bus. A win against the Giants and trust me this all goes away."
Don't let ESPN dictate your opinions. I suggest you listen to what the guys on the NFL Network have to say since they have no ax to grind and give fair and balance reporting unlike the bias reporting on the WWL. T.O. isn't the problem. He isn't throwing the interceptions. He isn't allowing the Touchdowns, He isn't the coach and he isn't the owner. To give him all the blame then you would have to give him all the credit for when they are successful and we know that you would never do that.
Littal to the rescue
You should be T.O.'s publicist because you damn sure do a better job than the people he's got. Either way I believe he's still the same guy that he was in San Fran. Whether that's good or bad, I don't know. Judging from the majority, it's bad.
The guys on NFL Network seem to lean more to what Littal was saying.
This is one the reasons ESPN is such a joke now. 10 minutes of Sportscenter was devoted to this story and there is more on the way! I love the unnamed sources too, way to be a great reporter there Ed Werder.
T.O. Was the problem in SanFran, he was the Problem in Philly, and now he is the problem in Dallas. It is as simple as that.
