I have been accused of being an ESPN basher. That isn't the case it is no secret for a long time my dream was to be a Sportscenter anchor. It is no secret my style has been crafted from watching thousands of SportsCenters in my youth. I owe a lot of my passion for sports to ESPN, so no I am not an ESPN basher I just want the media all media including ESPN reporters to be unbiased in their reporting.
With that being said when ESPN got in touch with me earlier this afternoon about my Cris Carter story (which i broke by the way regardless of what you may have heard) I thought it would only be fair to Carter and ESPN to post their response.
Robert,
Read your post about Cris Carter. Wanted to let you know that Cris had the following statement yesterday re comments he made about Terrell Owens ...
"Obviously, I did not mean this literally. It was not the right choice of words. I was simply recommending a personnel decision to improve the Cowboys."
I am cool with that. As I said before I like Cris Carter more than anyone else on the Countdown set I truly believe his opinions are unbiased so in turn I respect his opinions even if I don't agree with all of them. I knew what he meant and I knew that he didn't mean it literally, but as he stated it was a bad choice words.
Even further I honestly do not try to bring up race on this site even though the site is called BlackSportsOnline. For those who don't know the site is called that only because the staff is made up primarily of African-Americans and minorities. With that being said being from the inner city just hearing any man especially a black man saying he will put a gun to someone even jokingly has never been funny to me. There is too much black on black crime in our society hell there is too much violence in our society period and guns are a big part of that problem.
So I will step off my soapbox now and I will consider the issue closed. I appreciate ESPN getting in contact with me to clarify Carter's statement. Good to know Big Brother is watching and reading.

He knew what he was saying cause he said it on two different radio shows. I am not buying it.
Carter along with a host of other ESPN analysts are clowns. Dude's far from unbiased, remember what he said about both Charles Rogers and Mike Williams on ESPN, something along the lines of them being great players and hardworkers, only to contradict those statements when both receivers turned out to be cheeks.
Anyway keep up the good work at this site. Thanks to BSO I never check ESPN for any sports news anymore, which is refreshing and appreciated.
Yea well you know how it is. When your called out on your words in a politically "correct" U.S. biased mainstream media...you got to retract your statement and "apologize" to save face.
Yea it is good to know your being noted in high places huh Littal?lol Let me move up to the ESPN level. I just have HBO Real Sports
ESPN hit you up? 09 is going to be a beast.
We got your back boss. The hell with them.
Black power
You making them nervous
