Witten a Snitch? ESPN are Hypocrites? Steven A. Smith & Terence Newman Speak

toromo.jpg

We have gather a lot of information on the drama in going on in Big D. Remember people don't be manipulated listen to all of the statements. Listen to all of the facts. Don't just make a blanket opinion because you don't like Terrell Owens. Also I want you to remember one very important thing T.O. did not go to the media with his complaints about the offense he went to the Offensive Coordinator. Whereas other players in the locker room who weren't man enough to go to T.O. face to face leaked information to the media which cause the controversy in the first place.

Lastly lets take a look at what Terrance Newman of the Cowboys had to say about the situation. Remember Newman is a respected player on the team. Someone in the locker room everyday. Not a talking head sitting at a desk in Bristol with an ax to grind. Pay very close attention.

Our good friend Mike Florio from ProFootballTalk.com suggest that it was Witten who snitched to the media. Here is what Mike had to say:

WAS WITTEN WERDER'S SOURCE?
Posted by Mike Florio on December 12, 2008, 5:09 p.m. EST

As it turns out, Terrell Owens' suspicions regarding teammate Jason Witten might have been on the mark.

The talk in the Cowboys locker room is that Witten was one of the sources for Ed Werder's recent ESPN item, which has sparked a firestorm within the organization.

Per a league source, center Andre Gurode and receiver Roy Williams called out Witten in a team meeting regarding their belief that he has been talking out of school to Werder, accusing Witten and/or his agent of feeding the information to Werder -- as the song "Back Stabbers" played in the background.

According to our source (and it pains us to type this), Owens isn't as bad as he's made out to be in the media (i.e., by ESPN).

"Ed Werder didn't make anything up," the source said. "Witten or his agent gave the story."

Our good friends at The Big Lead show the hypocrisy of ESPN running with this story but not with the Brett Favre leaking info to other teams about the Packers earlier in the season. Here is a snippet of what they had to say:

Hmmmm. A few months back, when Fox Sports reported that Brett Favre had called Lions GM Matt Millen to edcuate Detroit about the Packers offensive strategies, ESPN refused to acknowledge the report, allegedly because it was anonymously sourced. (Surely, you remember this epic DO NOT REPORT edict.)

Yesterday, ESPN's Ed Werder provided a blockbuster report on the tenuous relationship between Terrell Owens and Tony Romo ... and a large portion of the quotes were anonymously sourced. It was surprising to see "anonymous source" in a graphic during Sportscenter. Double standard? Was one story more believable than the other?

Lets listen to what Steven A. Smith has to say about the situation. Remember I have disagreed with a lot of what Steven A. had to say in the past, but I think he is spot on with this.

Honestly at first look I thought here we go again with T.O., but after hearing everyone speak it seems like T.O. is being made a scapegoat.

Excellent stuff, but you know Littal you be protecting your boy TWO

What I don't understand is how ppl are calling ESPN are unfairly reporting about this situation, but yet and still show both sides of the story. I've seen plenty of ppl on ESPN programs who are on the opposite side of Werner.

Yeah, they are biased to Favre, but every sports outlet is. I have yet to see one report without being fanboys.

But Mitchell and Ness if Littal didn't bring this stuff to light who would?

I like they way i didn't see this terence newman video anywhere until today.

TO is a b*tch

No disrespect, but here we go again with this T.O. defense. It's never his fault. It's always the other team, QB, etc, but never TO. TO is a cancer. Everyone in SF and Philly knew it was only a matter of time before his prima donna attitude would show.

I disagree with your and Smith's opinions. Just because other team mates feel the same way he does is irrelevant. He may have a point, but his problem is how he chooses to handle the situation. His approach destroys team chemistry by forcing his team mates to choose sides. This situation always causes distractions leads to failure. He did it in SF, then Philly, and now Dallas.

If he had a problem with Romo, then he should have been man enough to discuss those concerns with him. But instead of manning up and handling this situation in a manner that would better his team and resolve the situation, he gets the other receivers together goes to the coordinator to complain.

TO is the problem because this problem occurs on what ever team He's is on, and it only occurs AFTER he joins the team.

TO is a cancer, and I'm glad he's spreading this sickness to the boys. Jerry got what he deserved.

ESPN is never to be trusted they are owned by Disney after all... Regardless T.O. is no saint and his rep isn't exactly unwarranted. That being said all I ever ask of any media outlet is to present both sides of the story and leave personal biases out of it.

Over here wondering why Educated fool posted the same comment twice but the second time went under the guise of Anonymous? lol How bout this? Its seldomly just ONE party's fault. The snitches on the team are at fault for leaking information, T.O is at fault for crying like a little punk instead of approaching Romo and Whitten like a man and they are at fault for not being the bigger men and approach T.O. There! It's seldom black and white. Lot of gray areas in this whole matter. Everyone involved is more concerned with pointing fingers and pointing out at how victimized he is instead of addressing the real matter and squashing it. This is the soap opera we call the NFL

Qiana M, all you have to do is ask? I posted the first time anonymously by mistake and I couldn't edit it. I posted the second time with my name so that Mr. Littal knew it was posted by me.
