I must say I am a proud of my readers and the American public as a whole. It appears finally that you are starting to see the hypocrisy of ESPN. It took a Cowboys victory and T.O. calling out Ed Werder for his faulty journalism to finally get people to understand what I have been trying to tell everyone since I opened the door to BSO back in 2005. It is not an urban legend there is a:
There are times that athletes deserve to be blasted. Lord knows T.O. over the years has said and done things that needed to be address, but here is the thing don't start something when there is nothing there. If you are going to report something you better have your ducks in a row especially if you are quoting anonymous sources.
I have no beef with Ed Werder, but it was irresponsible for him to run with a story with such little information. What Werder did was create a story out of a non-story. I am not saying it was total and complete fabrication, but he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew by running this it would cause drama and people wouldn't question its validity because it involved Terrell Owens. Just look at the reactions of the talking heads immediately following the report almost to a man they universally accepted Werder's report as fact without any checking at all. As I pointed out last night even Al Michaels repeatedly stated that it was Owens who accused Romo and Witten of making up plays instead of reporting it properly that it was "unnamed sources" who made this assumption. ESPN once again show hypocrisy by running a story with "unnamed sources" when earlier in the year they wouldn't run a story about "God" Favre because it didn't feel comfortable quoting "unnamed sources".
Thank goodness for internet bloggers like Mike Florio and others for digging deeper into the story to find the truth. Thank goodness for the NFL Network for providing an unbiased opinion on the situation.
I find it utterly ridiculous that ESPN who created this story in the first place has gone completely silent on the issue. The reason being is they know they have been caught and people are finally starting to realize that they are nothing but a "Machine" that is trying to control the "Sports Matrix".
You listen to T.O. post game press conference and you tell me does he sound like someone who is lying or does it sound like someone who is resigned to the fact that no matter what he does or what he says he will always be shown as the "Bad Guy".
Name one other NFL player whose every single word is dissected to the point that even when he does something positive it gets flipped into a negative.
I will never forget after the Super Bowl that Donovan McNabb blew and T.O. came back from the broken ankle. If the Eagles win that game he is the MVP and they asked Tom Jackson of ESPN what he thought of the performance and I am paraphrasing, but Jackson said:
"It was a great performance but he did it more for himself than for the team."
At that point I realized nothing was going to be good enough to get the media back on his side.
Once again let me repeat T.O. is no saint. A lot of this he brought on himself. I never agreed with how he handle the situation in San Francisco. I always thought if he would have shut his mouth in Philly he would have eventually got paid. I thought both he and Donovan McNabb should have handle there disagreements better. In Dallas though he has been much much better and for ESPN to continuously try to poke and prod him into controversy is unfair to Owens, the Cowboys and the league as a whole. I hope you all can see that now.

This information will continue to fall on the deaf ears of those who refuse to give Owens (or any other Black athlete) their due. And yes I am going to put in the race card because you never see this type of firestorm with Favre, Matt Jones with cocaine in his car, Jared Allen trying to injure players, or the New England offensive lineman accused of buying/selling pills.
I'm so aggravated by this whole thing that I'm going to post a column about it.

YOU are an idiot. Completely full of crap....
U are the man for aritcles like this. My boy was asking me how come he cant find shit on the TO blasting ed werder and i told him u probably could find it here and i was right.
Bondafied sports expert knows all and i am glad u are doin ur thing. U are preaching to the choir. keep exposing the haters
To be fair Rob...the Dallasnews and Forth Worth Star reported the same story citing their own sources. In fact, The Fort Worth Star Telegram reported this story before ESPN's Ed Werner did. So Im not buying that the media is out to get T.O. T.O. is just a bad teammate and his body of work indicates that.
I truly believe that this is bigger than TO. Trust me ESPN or any other news media won’t hesitate to pounce on LaDainian Tomlinson, Warrick Dunn or any other black collegiate or professional athlete. Black athletes who are good husbands, fathers and give back to their communities. The fact is that the media hates a rich black athlete who won’t play by their rules. Biggest example, Muhammad Ali, and now they have the nerve to love him!
