Sam Bradford Or Tim Tebow?

Here it is folks, it comes down to these two. Now I am sure the Texas fans out there will be screaming for Colt McCoy, but in reality it's down to these two quarterbacks. So who should get the Heisman memorial trophy?

Bradford enters the BCS championship game as the No. 1 rated passer in major-college football this year (186.3). He was 302 of 442 (.683) for 4,464 yards with 48 touchdown passes and only six interceptions. In his last seven games, he had 25 TD passes and one INT. He didn't run as often as McCoy or Tebow, but he didn't really need to.

Tebow's passing numbers aren't as great for the BSC championship bound Gators. He was 174 of 268 (.649) for 2,515 yards, with 28 TD passes and only two INTs. He was the nation's fifth-ranked passer (176.7). He ran 154 times for 564 net yards and 12 TDs. Many of Tebow's yards came from designed running plays in Urban Meyers zone read system.

Now that we have the statistics out of the way, let's get to the intangibles.

Tebow supporters will point to the fact that the other three quarterbacks (McCoy, Bradford, and Harrell) may have better numbers, but Tebow's performance since Florida's only loss was brilliant. Not only have his numbers been impressive since they loss (22 passing TDs, 2 INTs, 10 rushing TDs), he carried his team against impressive defenses. The downside to that arguement is that overall the SEC was down this year, most notably Tennessee and LSU. Also, as great as Tebow has played, his numbers are way down from last year.

Bradford backers will point to his numbers and how he simply was the better quaterback for the year. Plus the have that shot of Bradford going John Elway in the Oklahoma State game. I point to: 45-35. In the battle between the tow Heisman favorites at the time, McCoy played better than Bradford head-to-head. On top of that, if you take Bradford off the Sooners they will still be a top 5 team, you can't say the same thing about the Gators without Tebow.

As for who ultimately wins, it could get messy. Bradford probably has a small edge because he put up the best numbers in the best conference. Tebow again dominated, even though the SEC was focused on stopping him. Bradford probably will win in the closest race in history.

Normally I don't comment on stories, but McCoy>Bradford and Tebow.

Bradford has a killer running game and Tebow has Percy Harvin.

McCoy has carried his team and beat Bradford head to head. Only the BS that is the BCS kept him from shining on the big stage.

My vote goes McCoy

I get ya, but you and I both know its a two pony show between Bradford and Tebow.

Everyone always says McCoy beat Bradford head to head...no, Texas beat Oklahoma head to head. If I recall, Bradford still had a good game against Texas throwing 5 TD's along with close to 400yds while McCoy had almost 300yds and 1 TD. Both QB's played well enough to win. Bradford did have two picks, but still a good game.

I think Colt McCoy will walk away with the award because Bradford will be penalized because his offensive line is so massive he never gets touched and he has all the time in the world to throw the ball. He also has so much talent around him. McCoy on the other hand, is really carrying the big load. On top of putting up huge numbers, he is the best rusher the Longhorns have and he outplayed Bradford head to head. I don't think Tebow is going to get the award because his numbers are down and so is his conference.

The whole Heisman trophy debate is BS. IF the powers that be were serious about giving the award to the best player, then people like Nate Davis of Ball State, Aaron Curry of Wake Forest, or Brian Orakpo of Texas would be considered. Every year the Heisman field is based on whoever is popular with ESPN and everyone cosigns whatever they choose. The Heisman is BS just like the BCS.
