One thing I hate is writing about the same thing over and over again, but when the same things are happening over and over I feel compelled to bring some common sense into the equation.
Let me make this point clear I have no idea if the Dallas Cowboys are going to release Terrell Owens or not. That will be a decision made by the team right or wrong. What I do know is that ESPN among others are trying to pressure the Cowboys into doing that and in turn are trying to shift blame for the Cowboys failures on Owens.
Here is the huge headline from the ESPN story ran a few days ago:
Here is the very important point I need you to pay attention to. Here is the exact quote from the "unnamed source" regarding Owens' possible release:
"The big one [Owens] didn't get discussed yet, but I'm sure it will and real hard."
So lets think about this logically. It hasn't been discussed yet, but the headline states that Dallas may release him, but if it hasn't been discussed yet, how would the source know? Isn't it more likely the source just has opinion on what he thinks will happen as oppose to any hard core facts? Why didn't Ed Werder try to contact Jerry or Stephen Jones? I think we know the answer to that

If you read it, it sounds like someone in the Cowboys organization giving an opinion of the situation. No one of authority was interview for this piece, but it was presented as hard core facts. Read the title of the story again:

It sounds like one person who has no pull with Jerry Jones or anyone in upper management. So that is enough to run a headline like that? Of course it was picked up by everyone as if the Cowboys were in serious discussions to release Owens when the article states plainly it hasn't even been talked about yet.
Here is the thing I am not saying the "source" is lying, what I am saying is that ESPN and others needs to be more responsible with the information they leak out. The San Diego Chargers' GM has said specifically that Ladainian Tomlinson situation with the team will be address. When you have direct quotes like that then you can run a story (by the way ESPN treats LT with kid gloves).
All I ask of my readers is to use your brains. Realize when you are being manipulated and remember a lot of "sources" have their own agenda when leaking information to the media.
For the record I do believe internally the Cowboys will discuss if they want to bring Owens back. It is partly his fault and partly the media's fault he has such a bad reputation, but at this point nothing is going to change it. Only the Cowboys know how much of an internal distraction T.O. is. I do know that it is nowhere near the level that it is reported in the media, but sometimes perception is reality.
I don't think T.O. is the reason the Cowboy's collapse but it is easier to blame him simply because more people will believe it. Similar to accusing an ex-convict of a new crime over someone without a record. Comparing him to Pacman Jones and Tank Williams are unfair and unfounded. Hopefully you can see what is going on. If not time to open your eyes.

In my opinion, Terrell Owens is the least of the Dallas Cowboys worries. Firstly, the Dallas Cowboy's have alot of great players who simply don't play well together. They rack up alot of penalties. Second, the Dallas Cowboys at some point is going to have to face the fact that Tony Romo is no Troy Aikman or Roger Staubach.
While it is true that Terrell Owens has some issues, I thought that the Dallas Cowboys stage would be a big enough stage for him to overcome them. The Dallas Cowboy's organization is a problem of management. This is not the first time in the history of this team where they have had a great running backs (Barber, Smith, Newhouse, Dorsett), tight ends (Witten, Novacek) and receivers (Owens, Irvin, Pearson).
Utimately, America's team owner is the problem. Some days, it is not clear if Jerry wants to play, coach, be the GM, be a celebrity, water boy.... As long as he is the owner of this team, the team will continue to reflect his personality at the moment--whatever that is at the moment.
Management has to make tough decisions. Until management becomes management, the tough decisions for the Dallas Cowboys are still outstanding. Getting rid of T.O doesn't solve the Dallas Cowboy's problems. It only creates other problems without resolving the ones they have
