Did you ever believe you could throw better passes than Tony Romo? I'm sure several Cowboy fans this year did. What about believing you could catch more passes thrown to you than Terrell Owens? He dropped plenty this year, so that could have been a possibility. Or, are you the type of guy that would love to just stick a helmet in, let's say..., Eli Manning's rib cage? How about just being a guy that wants to stop being an NFL groupie and just get the ladies?
If so, Michael Irvin, Jerry Jones, and the Dallas Cowboys are giving one lucky fan the chance to do just that: a reality show of 12 people vying for the last shot at being a Cowboy for the 2009 season. Just think about it...you could line up opposite of Owens, or, as ESPN's Ed Werder might tell you, in PLACE of Owens. That might make Owens look this way...:

More after the jump...
The show pits six wide receivers and six defensive backs against each other for a spot in training camp, and, what each would hope to be, a spot on the Cowboys for the 2009 season. Irvin brings his production company, Playmaker Productions, with reality television veterans 3 Ball Productions (Beauty and the Geek, The Biggest Loser) to produce the show already scheduled to air on Spike.
Irvin, Jones, Troy Aikman, and Emmitt Smith are scheduled to be judges on the show. I'll take a guess, and say Emmitt's first words on the show will sound like:
"Kjsahfdiuahf."
For a team that displayed the ultimate turmoil in missing the playoffs in 2008, Irvin believes this could help the legendary franchise, along with moving into the new facility.
From the Associated Press article,
"I don't see how you can make this a negative for the Dallas Cowboys," he said. "We all talk of doing good things for the community, for people, giving people opportunities. Jerry has stepped up and said, 'OK, let's do it."'
"What young man do you know that's not going to read (about this show), then head straight to the gym and say, 'I'm going to get ready,'?" Irvin said. "That's how this will inspire people."
And from The Hollywood Reporter's James Hibbert's blog, The Live Feed:
"This is a groundbreaking opportunity for football players and football fans," Irvin said. "There is so much great undiscovered football talent out there, guys that may have missed their shot for one reason or another. This is about hope and a shot at greatness."
I have to admit to being intrigued about the yet untitled show, but if South Carolina's Stephen Garcia is in it (the YouTube video from GoGamecocks.com is under this), I will stop watching.

See. This is exactly the problem. The Dallas Cowboys spend more time on bullshit than football. Sounds like we are headed for another season of drama. They should start showing Dallas Cowboy games after the Young and the Restless on SoapNet instead of FOX Sports, ESPN and CBS Sports.
They coming for T.O.'s job
Maybe those guys who pulled the gun on irvin will try out
Im not gonna lie, if i wasnt 31 and carrying various age-old knee injuries i would seriously take a shot at getting on that show. You never know, they might dig up a diamond in the rough from this.
How do I sign up?
This sounds great but I would like to know , how would you sign up to be a contestant on the show?
