l_7cc9ae7e062a897ac7a3af3656926d94.jpgFlorida is the so called National Champions, Barkley cutting up while trying to get some cut up, and the next round of the playoffs are here. This and more in this week's Week in Review.

Urban_Meyer.jpgWho wins between Utah and Florida in a mythical championship game to determine who the #1 team is? I don't know who wins, but neither do you. If Lee Corso can go on an ESPN set at halftime and say that he feels Oklahoma is the better team and then watch as Florida dominates the second half on the way to their bowl win, then experts, coaches, and computers can in error say that Florida should be national champion. Its lunacy for experts to go on radio stations and say that Florida should be national champion without any evidence other that statements like, "I just think Florida has too many athletes". Or, "I just think Tim Tebow would be too much". That may very well be, but I also think thought that the Colts would beat the Chargers, the Falcons would beat the Cardinals, and Reggie Bush would be the best player in his draft class. In other words, "thinking something" doesn't make it fact. At the same time, we will never get a playoff because there is too much money involved to do otherwise. Once everyone can figure out a way to profit as much or more from a new system, we will continue to have what we have.

120707tebow1.jpgSpeaking of the championship game, after Tim Tebow allowed the world to see an expresion of his faith after Florida beat an Oklahoma team, it appears to have ruffled some people who wonder aloud about the place that one's faith has in sports. Everyone obviously has an opinion on this but it says here your reaction to him expressing his faith says a lot more about you than it does about him. The obvious responses are what does God care about football or what if someone thanks Allah or Buddha; does America still receive it the same? Maybe you all can post some of your comments on this topic and a follow up article can be written. What is your take on religion and its place in sports?

g-080515-charles-Barkley-327p_widec.jpgFor those of you who grew up in church; remember when Mrs. "Catch the Holy Ghost" would get up and talk about the importance of doing the right thing and staying together as a church family and then you would walk into the parking lot and she'd be talking about SIster "My Dress Is Too Low" behind her back? Thats Charles Barkley right now. Charles Barkley messed up big time (obviously) with the eventual DUI conviction. The thing that makes Barkley such an important and relevant figure is his ability to step out and say things that most aren't willing to say. In order to be able to do this, you have to have credibility. Once people see that you act as they act, people no longer take what you say seriously. More importantly, Barkley could have killed himself and/or others while driving while intoxicated. The question is, why was his body guard driving with him instead of driving for him?

I understand ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, but how out of bounds do they sometimes seem to get? First they mislead Miguel Tejada into believing they want to do a story about baseball and then ask him about his age with documents in hand and now they pull a story from 2007 where no charges are filed and then call the Cowboys and show them this information. Is it ESPN's job to have an effect on a person's employment with a team? This has little to do with Pacman and more to do with ESPN's practices. I may be a little late to the game but ESPN is starting to remind me of MTV in that just like MTV is no longer a station that plays music, ESPN is turning into a company that is more about story lines than the sports they cover. T.O. all day every day. 15 minutes pieces on where Lebron will play in 20 years. While those are relevant, sometimes it seems they over step their bounds. During the whole T.O. fiasco, Foxsports never reported on the story. Sports Illustrated never reported this story and neither did many other news outlets. Was the story true? Likely. Was it something that should have become a 2 week story? What ever came of the OJ Mayo story? An entire 30 minutes was devoted to this story of OJ Mayo being painted as some crooked student while their sources, disgruntled people, were held up as light in darkness. Yet, what are the results of the story? The point is, ESPN gets information and throws it out there. Is that good or bad? It says here that sometimes its a little in poor taste.

This one will be short and simple; Just give Lebron James the MVP trophy. He's stupid good. And is there anyone out there who thinks Kobe is still the best player in the league?

1776-08-02-03-emmitt.jpgEmmitt Smith wanted me to tell you all the following about the upcoming Cardinals - Panthers Game: "hoadajldkjajdjkladkajdjkd...."

Yeah, I didn't understand that either.

My picks for the playoffs:

Arizona over the Panthers
Pittsburgh over Chargers
Eagles over Giants
Tennessee over Baltimore

And Thats....A Wrap
