Last night inside of Quicken Loans Arena, a sold out crowd waited with baited breath to see what Lebron King James and his injury prone Cleveland Cavaliers (31-7) had in store for Chris "CP3" Paul and the visiting New Orleans Hornets (23-13). This game had a different dynamic; the seemingly unbeatable Cavs are coming off a tough overtime loss on Thursday to the Chicago Bulls. The Cavs lost shooting guard Delonte West for at least 5 weeks, Zydrunas Ilgauskas for a month, and Ben Wallace limped into tonight's game after missing the last two games with an intestinal virus. On top of all of those issues, the banged up Cavs have already lost a close game to Paul and the Hornets earlier in the season. All these factors seemed to equal an easy win in the mind of Paul and the Hornets, and even in the mind of some Cleveland fans, who seem to be waiting for the other shoe to drop on the Cavaliers early season success.

BUT that shoe won't be dropping tonight! This is The King's Castle and the versatile Mr. James was ready to do anything it took to remain undefeated (20-0) on his home court. He proved that again last night by playing all five positions for the banged up Cavs. Unfortunately, for the frustrated Hornets, a win in Cleveland against the Cavaliers, would be tougher to get than they ever could've imagined.

In the first quarter the Cavs and Hornets traded blows like two prize fighters, leading to a 9-9 tie with 7:42 seconds left in the first. Then to the surprise of the Hornets and the 20, 562 fans in the "Q," Cavs stand in starter, Sasha Pavlovic and hired shooter Wally Szczerbiak caught fire from behind the arc, nailing a total of 5 threes and one more long range bomb, but a toe on the line from Sasha made it worth two. This gave the Cavs a 25-17 lead before Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, hit a three pointer at the buzzer that bounced high off the front of the rim, before bouncing in (ala Lou Deng in the Chicago game vs. the Cavs on Thursday and the non-call of goal tending when Lebron's 3 at the fourth quarter bounced high and was snatched from inside the rim by a Bulls defender which both resulted in a unlikely Bulls' victory.) Tonight though, the ball is bouncing in Cavalier's favor. The Cavs led 28-17 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw much of the same as the Cavs dominated the Hornets with tough defense, rebounding and long range shooting. A monster dunk by "King" James followed by a long bomb from Wally set the tone for the rest of the game as a frustrated David West picked up what would be the first of two Hornets technical fouls with 1:37 left in the half. The Cavs took a 15 point lead in to halftime, and an equally frustrated Chris Paul picked up his first technical foul on the way to the tunnel.

I won't waste time and act like the second half of the game was any different than the first. So, I will sum up the half by saying, more points by the Cavs, and more technical fouls by the frustrated Hornets. Chris Paul finished the game early with 18 points 6 assists 7 rebounds and was ejected from the game. The Hornets other All Star David West also cut his night short and finished with 23 points 5 rebounds and a late game ejection. In a word, the Hornets, FRUSTRATED! Once again, Lebron "King" James would reign supreme, finishing the game with 29 points, 14 rebounds 7 assist and 3 steals in the Cavaliers 14 point win over the Hornets. Can I also add Lebron James for Defensive Player of the Year, to go along with his MVP award. So, still wishful thinking? You tell me. Sasha Pavlovic and Mo Williams finished with 19 points and 17 points respectively.
